SaaS Pioneer & Passionate Educator
Cathy Garland joined the Value Based Team, bringing over 20 years of experience in sales and marketing with a unique focus on Higher Education and Software/SaaS. Her background with start-up SaaS companies—where she navigated the challenges and specialized sales demands distinct to SaaS—along with her reputation for delivering award-winning products, training, and support in Higher Education, fuels the authentic innovation Value Based clients have come to expect for the past 28 years.
Previously, Cathy served as Vice President of Edvance360 (formerly Scholar360), an award-winning SaaS Learning Management System (LMS), where she began as the third employee.
"Years ago, I brought Jim into my company while I was VP of Marketing & Sales and saw firsthand how valuable and results-driven his consultative sales training was for my team," said Cathy. "Now, I get to combine what I’ve learned with Jim’s methodologies, specifically tailored to the two sectors I care most about: Higher Education and Software/SaaS. I’ve served them for over 20 years and now get to continue that from the coaching and training side. I am always blown away by the Value Based Team’s partnership with clients — no other sales training program comes close in effectiveness or lasting results. And I would know!"
Cathy’s proudest accomplishments include building a high-performing remote sales and service team and leading her company to win the Software Industry’s prestigious CODiE Award for Best LMS ten consecutive years — an achievement unmatched by any other LMS. Before leaving, she also successfully shortened the company’s average sales cycle from 12 months to less than 30 days by revamping lead processes to deliver value faster.
At Value Based, Cathy serves as a Senior Consultant, leading initiatives to enhance VBI’s marketing and supporting clients in Higher Education and Software/SaaS with her expertise.
Outside of her professional work, Cathy advises organizations that rescue women from addiction and the sex industry and mentors women in personal and professional development. She lives in Roanoke, Virginia, with her husband and two young children.
